Papua - In a heartwarming act of kindness, soldiers from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) 501 Para Raider Infantry Battalion, under the command of HABEMA, visited Mupas Village in Maybrat Regency on Friday, November 15, 2024, bringing both smiles and essential school supplies to the children of Mupas Elementary School. This initiative, part of their *KOMSOS* (Social Communication) program, marks another step in TNI’s ongoing mission to foster closer ties with local communities while promoting education in Papua.
The patrol, led by Second Lieutenant Puji Handoko, was designed to engage directly with the village’s residents, listen to their concerns, and deliver support where it’s most needed. As part of the initiative, the soldiers distributed much-needed stationery and snacks to the students, bringing an unexpected moment of joy to their school day. The children were visibly excited as they received the gifts, their faces lighting up with joy and gratitude.
One young student, Andre Fatemyo, expressed his appreciation: "Praise God. Thank you, Om Tentara (Soldier), for the free stationery. God bless." The heartfelt thanks of the students reflected the impact of this simple yet significant gesture, which not only helped the children in their education but also reinforced the strong bond between the military and the people of Papua.
Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, the HABEMA Commanding General, commended the 501 Task Force for their thoughtful action. "This initiative is a perfect example of TNI’s dedication to supporting the community’s most basic needs, particularly in education. It’s a step toward accelerating development in Papua and instilling a sense of hope for the future, " said General Avianto.
